Sad news for Russia as G7 strikes with stricter sanctions, South Africa might be affected soon

Leaders from the world’s wealthiest democracies have once again taken a decisive action to impose stricter sanctions on Russia and it allies.

Following their discussions in Hiroshima, Japan, the Group of Seven (G7) leaders emphasized the importance of reducing reliance on trade with China in a forthcoming communique.

According to reports, the G7 leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has vowed to limit the export of goods to Russia that could support President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and put an end to sanctions evasion.

Meanwhile, Janet Yellen the US Treasury Department Secretary, stated that these actions would further constrict Putin’s ability to carry out his brutal invasion and advance the global fight against Russian attempts to evade sanctions.

In their official statement, the G7 leaders announced that the restrictions would target exports of industrial machinery, tools, and technology that could aid Russia’s war efforts.

Additionally, they expressed their intention to curtail Russian revenues generated from the trade of metals and diamonds.

Regarding China, the G7 nations recognized its position as the world’s second-largest economy and acknowledged the necessity of fostering cooperation. While affirming that their policies were not intended to harm China’s economic progress, they called for stable and constructive relations with Beijing.

However, the draft communique also called for measures to reduce excessive dependencies in critical supply chains and counteract malign practices related to technology transfer and data disclosure. The draft reemphasized the importance of peace in the Taiwan Strait and urged China to use its influence to persuade Russia to cease aggression in Ukraine.
