Many Zimbabwean nationals living in South Africa are not happy with the level of inhuman treatment meted against them by the citizens of South Africa. Some of these immigrant Zimbabweans have been accused on several occasions of aiding crime in the country.
This is evident in the campaign run by pressure groups like Operation Dudula and Put South Africa First Movement. These groups has been pushing for the repatriation of foreign nationals especially those from Zimbabwe who their often accuse of engaging in activities that jeopardizes the well-being of ordinary SA citizens.
In an emerging report, popular Zimbabwean activist and Journalist, Mr Hopewell Chinono who recent visited South Africa has been on tour across South Africa to have interaction with Zimbabwean nationals living and working here.
In one of his Twitter message to the people of Zimbabwe living in South Africa, he urged them to stop threatening South Africans with retribution in the future, because such attitude will compel them never to give up their stand against Zimbabweans.
He clearly stressed on the need for Zimbabweans living in South Africa to always act mature mature and civil in their dealings with host communities.
According to his exact statement on Twitter:
“My last message for the night to my Zimbabwean brothers and sisters is that if you threaten someone who holds power today with retribution tomorrow, they will never give up that power, they will dig in.
At times acting mature and civil will pay in the long term”.
