South Africa’s ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC), is confident of securing a victory in the upcoming elections, according to its president, Cyril Ramaphosa. The ANC held its elections strategy workshop in Boksburg, where Ramaphosa expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the polls next year.

The ANC has been the ruling party in South Africa since 1994, following the end of apartheid. The party has faced several challenges in recent years, including allegations of corruption and declining support in certain areas of the country. However, Ramaphosa believes that the ANC is still the party of choice for South Africans.

During the workshop, Ramaphosa emphasized that the ANC is not campaigning to form a coalition with any other political party. He stated that the ANC is confident that it can secure a majority in the elections and form a government on its own.

Ramaphosa’s comments come amid speculation that the ANC may have to form a coalition in order to secure victory in the elections. In the previous local government elections in 2016, the ANC lost control of several major cities to opposition parties, leading to the formation of coalition governments in some areas.

However, Ramaphosa is optimistic that the ANC’s fortunes will improve in the upcoming elections. He cited the party’s track record of delivering services to the people of South Africa and its commitment to fighting corruption and promoting good governance.

The party plans to conduct a nationwide campaign, including door-to-door canvassing and social media outreach, to mobilize support for the ANC.

The ANC’s confidence in securing a victory in the elections next year may be a boost for the party, which has faced criticism and challenges in recent years. However, it remains to be seen whether the party can regain the support of voters who have turned away from it in recent years.

In conclusion, Cyril Ramaphosa’s statement that the ANC does not need a coalition in order to win the upcoming elections shows the party’s confidence in its own abilities. The ANC’s strategy workshop focused on several key issues, including campaigning during the pandemic and engaging with young voters. Whether the ANC can secure a majority in the elections and form a government on its own remains to be seen, but the party’s confidence may be a boost for its supporters.
