The city of Cape Town’s Almay Hurling was killed in a brutal way, and a 32-year-old man who worked for the Oudtshoorn Municipality and was named as a suspect in the case has died at the George Provincial Hospital. He was under police protection.
Hurling, who was 21 years old, was found dead in her home on Monday with multiple stab wounds.
Allister Wanie may have tried to kill himself by eating something deadly before he was arrested on Saturday, the same day as Hurling’s funeral.
A police spokesman said that Wanie, who had been taken to the hospital on Saturday, was pronounced dead on Tuesday.
“On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at about 2:50 p.m., Allister Wanie, a 32-year-old man, died at the George Provincial Hospital.” This prompted the George police to open an inquest docket.
“A preliminary investigation shows that the man, who is a suspect in a murder case, was taken to the hospital after he reportedly drank something poisonous before being arrested.” The doctors and nurses at the hospital said that he was dead.
The expected results are part of the police investigation that is still going on.
The spy said that they don’t know what led to Hurling’s death yet.
Leon Campher, a leader in the community, said that it was hard for them to accept Wanie’s death because they were still looking for solutions.
“The suspect was taken to George Hospital because he was trying to kill himself.”
He had been in a coma since Saturday and died on Tuesday. We really wanted answers, so this is very hard for us to accept.
“We know, of course, that he will have to answer for his actions twice now,” he said.
Campher said that Hurling’s life had been “peaceful.”
“We were told that she liked to stay home and only talk on the phone, read books, and watch TV.”
“In the past, she was also a good dancer.”
“We don’t know how someone could kill this quiet, good-natured child,” he said.
The mayor of Oudtshoorn, Chris Macpherson, told the family that he was sorry for their loss.
“This was a hard week for everyone who knew the victim or the person who killed them.”
