Disgraced celebrity doctor, Dr Nandipha has been charged with murder and remains in custody pending bail application.
The charge emanated from the charred body used to conceal Thabo Bester’s escape from the Mangaung Correctional Centre on 3 May 2022. Initially it was reported that the charred body used as a decoy for the Facebook rapist and murderer Thabo Bester to escape was found with blunt force trauma.
On Saturday it was reported that the body has been finally identified. It reportedly belonged to a Katlego Junior Mpholo/ Bereng.
According to the father, Batho Mpholo, the police told him that his son had overdosed on drugs and collapsed in town, passing away in a hospital later and taken to a government mortuary.
‘They could not tell me how he ended up in Bester’s cell. There is still no truth in what they are saying. We still have unanswered questions.’ The story is now taking a new twist. What we are getting now is that the body was indeed no longer alive when it was brought in to Mangaung Prison.
It looks like Dr Nandipha claimed the body from a mortuary like she did with other two bodies. If now they are saying the man had collapsed, does it mean he was not killed by Dr Nandipha and crew? Will murder charges against the infamous doctor be dropped after this revelation?
The father of the 32-year-old Katlego Bereng whose charred corpse was recovered from Mangaung Correctional Center’s cell 35 used to house escaped rapist and murderer Thabo Bester says he will not rest until the truth about his son’s death is revealed.
Katlego’s father has rejected the Police report that says Katlego collapsed in town, was taken to hospital and passed away due to short of blood, and was taken to govt mortuary where Dr Nandipha might have claimed his body. He believes Katlego was murdered and the Police are lying.
Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority on Monday withdrew a murder charge against the father of disgraced celebrity doctor Nandipha Magudumana.
Sixty-five-year-old Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, together with his daughter and two others appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court. This was after it was alleged that Sekeleni was an accomplice in murdering the person used as a decoy for Bester to escape.
Investigations did not link Sekeleni to the murder and he was released on bail. Sekeleni now faces charges of defeating the ends of justice, aiding and abetting a prisoner to escape and fraud.
