I think we can all agree that most parts of the Johannesburg central business district (CBD) are very dirty and highly polluted, but it looks like the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) is finally taking action against the amount of pollution around the Johannesburg CBD, account to reports, the JMPD is targeting informal traders as they are seen as the main contributors to the pollution around the Johannesburg CBD.
For example, yesterday (Wednesday 20 April) a group of JMPD officers were spotted forcing a group of alleged foreign nationals who are informal traders to clean up after themselves, the JMPD are saying that it is the responsibility of informal traders to keep the places they occupy clean and sanitary.
“An Informal Trader must keep the area occupied by him/her for the purposes of Informal Trading in a clean & sanitary condition.” – JMPD
