South African media personality and Idols SA judge, Somizi Mhlongo, recently found himself at the center of attention during a football match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Royal AM. Somizi was supporting Royal AM.

While attending the match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Somizi was subjected to teasing chants from Sundowns fans.

The incident occurred when Sundowns scored their third goal, and fans began singing a chant directed at Somizi. The chant, “Somizi sizokushaya,” roughly translates to “Somizi, we will beat you.” While some fans were happy to see their favorite celebrity, others were clearly not amused.

Despite the song, Somizi decided to embrace the situation and enjoy himself. He encouraged the fans to sing and dance, rather than worrying about the team’s loss.

This positive attitude was a refreshing change from the usual reactions we see from celebrities who receive criticism or ridicule.
However, the incident has caused some controversy, with many people feeling that Somizi should not have attended the match in the first place.
He stole the spotlight from other well-known figures who are usually more visible on the stand, such as Mama Joy.

it’s important to remember that events like football matches are not only good for the sport, but also for business networking and sharing of ideas.
It’s great to see well-known celebrities such as Somizi and Malusi Gigaba’s ex-partner Norma and other entrepreneurs supporting each other and enjoying themselves in a public setting.

Regardless of the controversy, Somizi has remained adamant that he will continue to support his friend, even in the face of criticism.

This is a commendable attitude, and it shows that he is willing to stand by his beliefs, even when faced with adversity.
In the end, the match ended in a resounding 5-1 victory for Sundowns, and Somizi’s presence at the stadium did not affect the outcome of the game. While it’s unfortunate that he was subjected to mocking chants, his positive attitude and ability to enjoy himself in the face of adversity is something we should all strive to emulate.
