Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club Star central middlefielder, Tebogo Mokoena scored arguably one of the goals of the season during Sundowns’ game against Al Ahly Sporting Club at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria earlier today, to help his club go into the break with a 3 – 1 lead after a dominant first half.
Sundowns started the match on the front foot as they managed to take the lead in the 4th minute through Chilean international, Marcel Allende who saw his grass cutter outside the box beat the Egyptian giant’s legendary goalkeeper, Mohammed El Shenawy before Mohamed Sherif’s equaliser ten minutes later.
The Brazilians continued their dominance in the match as Sundowns’ captain, Themba Zwane met Mtobi Mvala’s header to slaught the past the helpless El Shenawy to give Sundowns a 2 – 1 lead, which was followed by Sundowns’ dominance and a wonder strike from former Supersport United Football Club star, Tebogo Mokoena.
The South African international received a ball some 50 meters away from Al Ahly’s goal after Neo Maema’s shot was deflected back to him, and he took two touches to set himself up before unleashing a rocket of a shot that left El Shenawy in the Red Devils’ goals with nothing he can do to stop the shot.
The 24-year-old wonder strike left the keeper rooted, as the ball whistled into the top left corner to send Sundowns into the break leading 3 – 1, and heading to the top of Group B table and passage to the quarterfinal of the competition.
