A mayor in Kwa-Zulu Natal province has been put on suspension after allegations emerged that he has been sleeping with juniors so as to guarantee their employment.
These allegations started making waves earlier this year that some female job seekers were being asked by an Inkatha Freedom Party mayor to sleep with them before they could get jobs.
It is alleged that the desperate job seekers were sometimes forced to sleep with the mayor in hope that they could be able to get employment.
The Inkatha Freedom Party has now immediately suspended the Mayor of Abaqulusi local municipality, Mncedisi Maphisa and the Alfred Duma (Ladysmith) local municipality councillor accused of sleeping with junior workers and promising them jobs.
These two accused will appear before the party’s National Executive Committee. There are however calls for these two to be fired from their positions for this misconduct.
ANC comrades have been putting pressure on Inkatha Freedom Party to deal with their mayor for this behaviour.
