Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has reacted to Eskom’s Phase 6 power cuts until further notice. He said that was enough for South Africans to participate in the shutdown of his party in March. Many South Africans woke up in shock after Eskom announced on Sunday that they are implementing Stage 6 until further notice.
This shows that the government currently does not have a clear plan on how to stop these power cuts. Julius Malema said, “The 6th round is enough to join the national shutdown on March 20, 2023. Ramaphosa will go.” Critics have slammed Red Beret leader Julius Malema saying his move will not change anything as they have treated Cyril Ramaphosa softly compared to how they treated former president Jacob Zuma.
They added that during Zuma’s administration, those fighting for economic freedom had exhausted all means to remove him, but when it came to Ramaphosa, they were soft. Eskom announced the 6th announcement while President Cyril Ramaphosa was in Ethiopia where he was attending the African Conference.
“Ramaphosa is doing what he wants, nothing will change even after the trip. I wanted to join the trip, but I was tired. Why did you choose a day when the power cuts are annoying us.
“Ramaphosa is the worst president if we are to be honest. It is only now that we are in level 6 that he wants to do something that is not even like him. When the fire started, there should be a plan to prevent us from coming to this,” others said. Frustration over the power cuts has led many to reveal that although they do not support the EFF’s views, they will join the march.
