South Africa has long been plagued by high levels of violence and crime, including murder. The country’s murder rate is one of the highest in the world. Despite efforts to curb violence, the situation remains a growing concern, with many people losing their lives to senseless acts of violence.
The recent murder of South African rapper Kiernan Forbes, popularly called ‘AKA,’ highlights the severity of the problem. AKA was shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Durban, South Africa, on Friday, February 10, leaving the nation in shock and mourning.
The rapper was known for his talent and contribution to South African music, and his untimely death has led to widespread outrage and calls for justice. The South African police have launched an investigation into the murder, but so far, no arrests have been made.

This rise in violent crime is a cause for concern, and many people are calling for more action to be taken to tackle the problem.
AKA’s remains have been laid to rest in a private ceremony held at the Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg, South Africa. As people paid their respects, photos taken during the burial showed Don Design standing next to AKA’s grave holding a bottle of Hennessey.
While some may view this as inappropriate, it is worth noting that pouring alcohol to honour people, including during a burial, is a common practice in some cultures.
There is still a long way to go to make South Africa a safer place to live. The high levels of violence and crime have a significant impact on people’s lives, causing fear and anxiety, and limiting their ability to live freely and pursue their dreams.
As South Africans continue to mourn the loss of AKA and other victims of violent crime, there is a need for greater efforts to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
