Disruptions erupted in Cape Town’s city hall on Thursday as President Cyril Ramaphosa attempted to deliver his state of the nation address (Sona).
Ramaphosa had only begun speaking and had barely finished his first sentence when EFF leader Julius Malema raised a point of order.
“Speaker of the National Assembly …” That was all Ramaphosa could say.
Malema requested that Mapisa-Nqakula adjourn the proceedings, saying: “How can he convene the people he has taken to court? He has taken this parliament to court, meaning he has no confidence in his parliament.
“If he wins this case, it means this body has acted unlawfully against him,” Malema said.
“In terms of procedure, the president must sit down,” said Malema.
After that several EFF members raised points of order.
Some of the eff members just walk out without causing havoc with other EFF members tried to invade the stage.
The remaining red berets members were escorted by security.
