Government officials are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated and cover their faces with veils. Earlier this month, it was reported that the highly contagious XBB.1.5 strain was responsible for the single most notable case of the new Covid ever recorded in the Republic of South Africa. Stellenbosch researchers identified an XBB.1.5 variant.
There are at least 28 countries where the category that currently dominates in the United States also exists. Not much has changed since then in the Republic of South Africa in terms of the Coronavirus outbreak.
Meanwhile, the South African Department of Health is encouraging everyone to be vaccinated, practice preventative hygiene including washing hands often, avoid crowded areas, and cover their heads if they do not wish to be exposed.
Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa, President of South Africa and Chairman of the African Public Congress, removed all Coronavirus rules a few months ago, and the covers are currently hidden from public view.
In the meantime @HealthZA is appealing to everyone to #vaccinate, get boosters, wear your masks, keep the distance, avoid overcrowded places and wash your hands #COVID19
