Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr have terminated the contract of Cameroon captain Vincent Aboubakar with immediate effect.

The 30-year-old was seeking an exit from the club before the 2022 FIFA World Cup but the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo has now paved the way for his immediate exit.

With Al Nassr needing to free up a foreign quota spot to register the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, they reached an ‘amicable’ agreement with the Indomitable Lions skipper.

“Aboubakar received all the financial compensation he was entitled to,” a source close to the Saudi club told AFP.

The former Besiktas and FC Porto striker has been linked with a surprise move to Manchester United where he would ironically replace Ronaldo.

However, there are reported offers from the Turkish Super Lig and Ligue 1 for the services of Aboubakar – who will make his decision within the coming weeks.
