Former president Jacob Zuma has once again fired shots at president Cyril Ramaphosa over his leadership qualities during the O.R Tambo memorial lecture held in eThekwini on Sunday.
Zuma without mincing his words, said there were allegations that Ramaphosa used money to buy his presidency in 2017, and that this tendency seem to be repeating itself ahead of the ANC December conference. The ANC veteran said Cyril Ramaphosa didn’t deny vote buying during his Zondo commission appearance, but rather stated that the money was not R1 billion, but R300 million.
He said that alone was an admission of guilt by president Cyril Ramaphosa that he used money to buy votes, and that explains why he was able to emerge victorious. Now that Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala scandal was exposed, some comrades within the ANC were alleging that maybe the dollars found at his farm were also to be used at the December conference.
“There were clear allegations made, that Cyril Ramaphosa, who was contesting the presidency, used a lot of money, to buy his position as president of the ANC. When this allegation was made, the figure was put at around R1 billion.
In the Zondo commission, Cyril Ramaphosa openly admitted that he did use money to buy the position, but said it was not over one billion Rand, but it was just over R300 million,” Zuma said.
There were allegations within the ANC that party was infiltrated by spies years ago, who are working tooth and nail to weaken the movement. Zuma said this is worrying as the party seem to be controlled by some people outside the movement itself especially under the current administration of Cyril Ramaphosa.
“It is really of great concern that ANC seems to be run by invisible people, who are not necessarily members of the ANC… they are running the ANC from wherever they are… We are currently witnessing the repeat of Nasrec 2017,” Zuma said.
It has become obvious that the ANC veteran really want president Cyril Ramaphosa out of power after serving only one term.
