According to the Flyingnewslive news report, yesterday, Thursday, 6 October 2022 the South African Police Service (SAPS) Forensic Unit recieved intelligence information about a Somalian and Ethopian sindicate linked to about 6800 fraudulant SASSA accounts opened with fraudulant refugee status documents, an undercover operation took place and lots of evidence were gathered.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) members have managed to recover multiple SASSA cards, and two suspects who are believed to be the ringleaders of the syndicates were placed under arrest and detained on charges for fraud, theft and possession of stolen property.
The suspects will soon make an appearance in court to face the mentioned charges, investigation on this matter is still ongoing.
