Kaizer Chiefs hard-tackling midfielder Willard Katsande insists he and his teammates are hurting as much as the supporters after a run of disappointing results in the 2020/21 season.
The Soweto giants are winless in their last five matches in all competitions and have suffered three successive defeats.
As if things couldn’t get worse for ‘Amakhosi’, their next fixture today at FNB Stadium (15:00) is a tricky one against a confident SuperSport United outfit – second on the league table.
“Losing three games in a row is not a nice thing, especially when you are at Kaizer Chiefs,” said Katsande.
“It’s something which is not acceptable, which is gonna haunt us for a long time because we are not known for losing three games in a row. It’s actually a tough pill to swallow.”
Chiefs are currently 9th on the DStv Premiership log standings with 18 points from 16 matches (four wins, six draws and six defeats).
Katsande says SuperSport will be a tough challenge on Saturday but believes his team can beat them as there are a lot of people expecting more from ‘Amakhosi’.
“The fixture against SuperSport is always a tough one but the good thing is that we are playing at home, we just need to give our best and try to get the victory,” added Katsande.
“Yes, the supporters are frustrated with the results at the moment, and we really understand their pain.
“And we actually know how it is to be a Kaizer Chiefs fan wherever they are, in the offices, in the buses, in the prison, in the hospital, they just need strength from Kaizer Chiefs to do good because if Kaizer Chiefs do good, a lot of people feel good.”
Once dubbed the Cup Kings of South African football, Chiefs are still chasing their first trophy since April 2015. That dry spell has taken a toll on their fans, who have become the victims of mockery from opposition supporters.

“So, we just need to turn the corner to make them happy wherever they are in the prison, in the hospital, in the buses in the offices, at school, and wherever.
“When we do good, we know that they’re gonna feel good because Chiefs is theirs, and Chiefs is them, so we just need to repay them by start winning matches and try to restore their pride.”
“This group has so much talent in it’s just that we need to be more committed to give our all for the team, give our all for individuals, give our all to the supporters. Eventually, everything will come good. So, commitment is very, very key in order for us to make our fans happy,” concluded the veteran Chiefs midfielder.
