On Monday, Ramaphosa announced that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country had risen to 1326 with three deaths.
– Some people may think this disease does not concern them or will not affect them.
It is real and poses a real threat to all of us.
It infects rich and the poor/cities and rural areas.
– The next 17 days will be difficult for everyone for parents, business, workers etc..
– All of us are experiencing great hardship at this time.
– We are equally concerned about small businesses and those in the informal economy.
We will be giving assistance where possible.
– Government will be rolling out a massive screening and tracing process. 10 000 field workers will be screening residents for the #CoronaVirus symptoms.
– This screening, testing and tracing excercise will be in an unprecedented scale.
– We are working with our social partners to limit further damage to our ecomony.
I have no doubt in my mind that we will prevail because South Africans have come together like never before.
Ramaphosa commends Jack Ma Foundation for making available essential medical supplies.
