Leonardo Castro has recently rejected an initial contract offer from Kaizer Chiefs, but he is not the only player who has turned down a new deal at their club recently.
As reported in this week’s edition of iReport SA News, after rejecting Chiefs’ offer for an extended deal, Siya sources have since revealed that the Colombian, whose current contract comes to an end on June 30, has now submitted a proposal of his demands regarding a contract extension, which could be a sign that he will remain at Naturena beyond this season.
Chiefs have already lost George Maluleka to their rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. Amakhosi confirmed that Maluleka (current deal ending on June 30) turned down a new two-year deal (plus a one year option), opting to sign a pre-contract with the Brazilians.
Elsewhere in the league; there’s been reports that Siyanda Xulu has been offered a new deal by Maritzburg United, however, sources have revealed that the 28-year-old has still not put pen to paper, and is heavily linked with a move away from the Team of Choice.
Dean Furman will also see his contract with SuperSport come to an end on June 30, and it was confirmed in January that the player will not be signing a new contract at Matsatsantsa, as he looks to make the move back to the United Kingdom.
Thabang Monare is another player who has also turned down a new contract offer, although Bidvest Wits do have an added option set in place when his deal comes to an end on June 30, meanwhile, Siya sources recently revealed that the club is looking to open fresh contract talks with the player
