President Cyril Ramaphosa is preparing to address South Africa on Sunday, after 51 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the country since the start of the month. Amongst other measures, the head of state is expected to impose a travel ban on several major European countries during his speech – a live stream of which features at the bottom of the page.

Highlights from President ‘s Adress:
1.State of management declared according to disaster management Act.
2.Travel ban for incoming visitors from high risk countries from 18 Wednesday March.This include China,Iran,Italy,Korea ,Germany ,Spain (those mentioned in the speech)
3.Visas already cancelled for visitors from high risk countries & medium risk countries .
4. S.A. Citizens returning from high risk countries will be tested with forced quarantine.
5. S.A. citizens returning from high risk countries will be subjected to additional screening.
6. Several ports of entry will closed across all modes of transport.
7. Non- essential international travel for Government banned.
8. Local travel for Government limited .
9.Gathering of more than 100 people will be prohibited.
10.Mass celebrations and government functions will be cancelled.
11.Small gathering will attract stringent precautionary measures by organizers.
12. Schools will be closed from 18 march Wednesday until after Easter weekend.Schools holiday in June will be 1 week shorter .
13. All sectors to increase hygiene control , including malls & shopping centres.
14.Government testing and surveillance system bring reviewed.
15. Additional isolation and quarantine vanues being sought.
16. Setting up national tracking and reporting systems in collaboration with private sector
17. Government to start campaign for general and ongoing hygiene
18. Additional funding to be allocated to departments dealing with epidemic.
19.Goverment command and control to be implemented and meet 3 times a week.
20. Acknowledge for financial impacts with several financial packages investigated.
