Durban – A warrant of arrest has been issued for musician Bongekile Simelane, better known as Babes Wodumo.
She was supposed to appear in the Durban magistrate’s court along with her sister Nondumiso and a fellow musician Tipcee (real name Thobeka Ndaba).
The three women failed to appear in court on charges of assault.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Kara says the prosecutor has applied for a warrant of arrest.
The charge against the three was initially opened at the Umbilo police station in March after they allegedly assaulted a woman at a guesthouse.
The incident took place right after a video of Babes Wodumo being assaulted by her boyfriend Mampintsha (real name Mandla Maphumulo) had gone viral.
Maphumulo laid a counter-charge against Babes Wodumo following the video.
Maphumulo was later released on R 2,000 bail.
