Supporters of the Lekompo artist Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, known as Shebeshxt, were stunned when the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court rejected his bail application on Monday and postponed the matter until 19 January 2026.
During the session, troubling details came to light as the court heard testimony confirming that Shebeshxt allegedly falsified a victim’s documents concerning the retraction of an earlier statement. This evidence was presented by Warrant Officer Phaladi Makola of the Limpopo Provincial Investigating Unit, who is actively handling the case against the musician. Due to this alleged forgery, the court indicated a plan to re-examine several of Shebeshxt’s prior withdrawn cases, as these might also involve fabricated signatures, potentially deepening his legal problems.
Shebeshxt is currently dealing with nine serious accusations, including 3 counts of attempted murder with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, negligent discharge of a firearm, and other charges tied to violent behavior. The most recent arrest stems from a shooting incident in Ladanna during the first week of October 2025, where he reportedly shot and injured 2 men who were approaching him to greet him. The ruling means Shebeshxt will stay in custody until his next court date on 19 January 2026. The case continues to draw considerable public attention, with both fans and critics tracking the ongoing legal process closely.
