An ANC branch meeting in the North West province was disrupted by an alleged physical assault during a dispute over Women’s League delegates. A party member, Celia Monama, has filed a police report claiming she was slapped by interim task team coordinator Zukiswa Vesi.
The incident occurred during a contentious meeting where members protested issues with the attendance register and the process for establishing branch structures. Monama stated she sustained facial injuries from the altercation.
Vesi, who is a candidate for a leadership position at the upcoming Women’s League conference, has denied the assault allegations, suggesting they are politically motivated during conference season.
The North West province has been without a formal women’s league structure for over two years, with internal divisions and allegations of membership irregularities continuing to challenge the party’s reorganization efforts.
