Gauteng Residents Storm ANC HQ, Demand Ramaphosa And Madlanga-Linked Leaders Step Down

Fed-up Gauteng residents took to the streets in a protest outside the ANC headquarters in Johannesburg, demanding that President Cyril Ramaphosa and all those named in the Madlanga Commission resign from office. The demonstration, held on November 17, 2025, saw angry citizens braving the weather to voice their frustration with ongoing corruption and leadership failures within the party. Protesters called for accountability and an end to what they see as a culture of impunity among top officials.

The Madlanga Commission, which has investigated corruption and mismanagement, has named several high-profile figures, including Ramaphosa, for their alleged roles in various scandals. The protesters argued that these leaders should step down to restore public trust and allow for new, honest leadership to take charge. Many expressed that the ANC’s current leadership has failed to deliver on promises of transformation and good governance, leaving ordinary South Africans to suffer the consequences.

The protest is part of a wider wave of public discontent, with citizens across Gauteng and other provinces demanding change. Protesters emphasized that their actions are not just about removing individuals but about demanding a fundamental shift in how the country is governed. They called for transparency, accountability, and a new direction for the ANC that prioritizes the needs of the people over the interests of a few.

The demonstration outside the ANC headquarters sent a strong message that patience is running out and that citizens are no longer willing to accept broken promises and corruption. The call for resignations from Ramaphosa and others named in the Madlanga Commission reflects a growing demand for a new era of leadership in South Africa.
