Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is reportedly telling club staff that he wants to leave his position. This news raises questions about his future at the club.
According to a report from ABC Futebol, Flick feels “very tired” and has grown frustrated. The report says he is unhappy with a lack of focus from some players and feels he has not received enough support from the club’s leadership. However, he has not formally asked sporting director Deco or president Joan Laporta to leave.
Flick joined Barcelona in May 2024 and had a successful first season. He led the team to a La Liga and Copa del Rey double and reached the Champions League semi-finals.
If Flick does leave, one potential candidate to replace him is Jurgen Klopp. The former Liverpool manager is currently without a coaching job. A report claims that Klopp was recommended to Barcelona’s president back in 2021. A separate claim from a former presidential candidate also stated he had held talks with Klopp about the job.
Klopp has publicly stated he is taking a break from management and has expressed that he does not miss the daily demands of being a coach.
Barcelona’s next match is against Club Brugge in the Champions League. In the Spanish league, they are currently five points behind rivals Real Madrid.
