A drive-by shooting in Reiger Park, east of Johannesburg, turned deadly on Saturday evening, claiming the lives of six people and leaving three others injured. According to police, the attack was carried out by suspects traveling in two vehicles who opened fire randomly in the area.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that the motive for the brutal attack is still unknown. “The circumstances of the shooting are not clear; however, investigations are underway and a manhunt has been launched for the suspects,” Nevhuhulwi stated.
In response to the violence, the Acting Provincial Commissioner has appealed to the Reiger Park community to cooperate with law enforcement. The public is urged to report any information on criminal activities via the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111 or anonymously through the MySapsApp.
