The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry heard testimony from Detective B, who claims a woman indirectly boasted about how Katiso “KT” Molefe, a suspected cartel member and murder suspect, would make sure the Armand Swart murder case disappeared.
Witness B states that the woman made a suggestion that Molefe might “make things go away” with his connections and power, which the investigator took as an attack on the credibility of the inquiry.
The Madlanga Commission is investigating claims of corruption, political meddling, and criminal infiltration in South Africa’s legal system, and the testimony is explosive evidence that will be brought before the commission.
The testimony of Witness B contributes to the mounting evidence that persons with ties to organised crime sought to influence or impede investigations into significant instances, such as the murder of Swart.
More witnesses are slated to testify this week as the commission continues its hearings on the alleged collaboration between criminal networks and law enforcement officers.
