EFF leader Julius Malema played a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity of parliamentary proceedings during the Ad Hoc Committee’s inquiry into police corruption.
When KZN Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi was set to present a “supplementary affidavit” originally prepared for the Madlanga Commission, Malema objected, pointing out that Parliament required an original statement to proceed legally.
“Without the original statement, the evidence would be procedurally invalid,” Malema insisted, prompting a temporary adjournment of the committee. After the necessary documentation was submitted, Mkhwanazi was sworn in and his testimony continued within the proper legal framework.
