The alleged killer, Walter Tshehlo, fled but later turned himself in to police. He faces murder charges and is set to appear in court for a bail hearing on 18 August 2025.
Friends and classmates describe Selebogo as a bright, kind-hearted future teacher. The motive remains unclear, leaving loved ones devastated. “We’re broken. None of us can focus – we just see her empty seat in lectures,” said one grieving friend.
NWU has deployed counselors to help traumatized students. The case has reignited calls for better student safety measures nationwide.
“We’re investigating all angles,” said Captain Tumelo Moeketsi.
Selebogo’s family prepares to bury their daughter while demanding justice. “Ona dreamed of teaching children. Now that light is gone,” her uncle told reporters.
