President Cyril Ramaphosa has dismissed Andrew Whitfield as Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition. The move was made under section 93(1) of the South African Constitution.
Ramaphosa thanked Whitfield for his service but did not give a reason for the dismissal. However, reports suggest it may be connected to Whitfield’s involvement in a DA delegation trip to the US, which the president allegedly advised against.
