Members of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) are calling for transparency after the sudden dismissal of their Secretary-General. Many are urging the National High Command to provide clear reasons for the decision, as doubts grow over the official explanation given.
The party claimed the Secretary-General was removed for an unauthorized visit to fugitive pastor Shepherd Bushiri’s church in Malawi during Easter. However, some members dispute this, calling the justification unconvincing.
“We want the National High Command to explain exactly what our Secretary-General did wrong,” one group said. “The Bushiri story doesn’t make sense to us—we need the truth.”
The dismissal, announced in early June 2025, was based on a constitutional clause banning international activities that conflict with the party’s goals. Yet, some believe the real reasons may involve internal disputes, leadership tensions, or disagreements over the SG’s influence since he joined from the EFF in August 2024.
The lack of clear communication has raised concerns about fairness and trust within the party. As the MK Party works to establish itself as the official opposition, this internal conflict could weaken its credibility ahead of the 2026 elections.
As of 20 June 2025, the National High Command has not publicly addressed the growing questions, leaving members and observers waiting for answers. Discussions on social media suggest the dispute could impact the party’s future direction.
