Malema Sparks Fury With “Stupid” Jab at MK Party and Zuma

EFF leader Julius Malema has ignited fresh political tensions after launching a blistering attack on Jacob Zuma’s MK Party, dismissing its supporters as “collectively stupid” during a fiery campaign rally in Kwakwatsi, Free State.

“They Don’t Understand Parliament”
Addressing EFF supporters ahead of the Ward 16 by-elections, Malema ridiculed MK Party members, claiming they contribute nothing meaningful in Parliament.

“They are all as stupid as their leader,” he declared, referencing Zuma. “They come to Parliament, and no one understands what they’re saying—they add no value.”

The crowd erupted in laughter and cheers, but the remarks drew swift backlash online, with MK supporters accusing Malema of disrespect and political grandstanding.

Rejecting Unity With Zuma
Malema doubled down on his long-standing refusal to collaborate with Zuma, scoffing at calls for opposition unity.

“If Zuma truly wanted unity, he would have joined the EFF instead of creating his own party,” he said, downplaying the MK Party’s growing influence. “More followers don’t matter if they’re all confused.”

Trump Also in the Firing Line
Never one to limit his targets, Malema also took aim at Donald Trump, reiterating past criticisms of the former U.S. president as a “global embarrassment.” His broadside against Western hypocrisy drew roars of approval from supporters.

Analysts Warn of Deepening Divides
While the EFF base applauds Malema’s combative style, critics argue his rhetoric fuels polarization.

“Malema’s strategy is provocation, not debate,” said political analyst Zwelinzima Mlambo. “When leaders reduce politics to insults, democracy suffers.”

Election Tensions Rise
With South Africa’s electoral landscape heating up, Malema’s latest outburst signals a no-holds-barred approach to the coming campaign—one that prioritizes fiery rhetoric over policy discussions. As the MK Party gains ground, the war of words between the two radical factions is likely to escalate, setting the stage for a bitterly contested election season.
