From Politics to Pew Fashion: Malusi Gigaba & Fiancée Serve Divine Style at IPHC Mass Wedding

Former cabinet minister Malusi Gigaba and his fiancée Nomfundo Fakudze have traded political spotlights for spiritual limelight, serving what social media is calling “anointed fashion goals” at this year’s International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC) mass wedding ceremony.

The couple, who recently announced their engagement, made a striking entrance at the church’s annual holy union event in Germiston, where Gigaba – once dubbed South Africa’s “Minister of Drip” for his sartorial flair – proved his fashion crown remains firmly in place.

A Heavenly Style Moment
Gigaba, now an ANC NEC member, paired a tailored navy suit with subtle pinstripes and a crisp white clerical collar shirt, blending statesman sophistication with devout elegance. Fakudze complemented him in a champagne-hued lace gown with bishop sleeves and delicate pearl embellishments, her ensemble crowned with a crystal-encrusted headpiece that sparkled under the cathedral lights.

The IPHC ceremony, which solemnizes unions for hundreds of couples simultaneously, took on added glamour as photographers captured the pair holding hands during the sacred proceedings. Their coordinated looks – Gigaba’s pocket square matching Fakudze’s dress undertones – sparked admiration from congregants and fashion commentators alike.

Faith Meets Fashion
“This isn’t just about designer labels,” noted style analyst Thando Mnguni. “Their outfits respect church modesty codes while making a contemporary statement – Gigaba’s collar nod to priesthood aesthetics, Nomfundo’s modern take on bridal holiness.”

The former Home Affairs minister, who’s been increasingly visible at IPHC events since his 2021 political hiatus, appeared deeply engaged in the spiritual rituals. At one point, the couple was photographed kneeling together during prayer, their outfits forming a visually harmonious tableau.

Social media erupted with praise, with one fashion influencer tweeting: “When they said ‘enter His gates with thanksgiving,’ I didn’t know it would come with this level of slay.” Even critics acknowledged the power of their sartorial-spiritual synergy, with comments like: “Say what you will about Gigaba, but the man understands assignment dressing.”

While the couple hasn’t confirmed whether they’ll participate in next year’s mass wedding as participants, their appearance has already set a celestial standard for ecclesiastical elegance. As Gigaba himself posted after the event: “Dressed for earthly worship, but heavenly approval.”

Behind the Looks
Sources reveal Fakudze worked with Durban-based designer Nkanyezi Masango to create her custom outfit, while Gigaba’s suit came from his longtime Johannesburg tailor. The looks deliberately incorporated IPHC’s signature colors of white, gold and blue in subtle details.

Church leaders praised the couple’s embodiment of “modern holiness,” with Archbishop Michael Sandlana noting: “When young people see faith can be vibrant yet reverent, it glorifies God in new ways.”

As congregants left the service, many were overheard discussing not just the spiritual message, but the couple’s inspiring fusion of devotion and design – proving that in today’s visual age, even sacred moments can become cultural talking points when delivered with intentional elegance.
