Malema Dares Critics as ‘Shoot the Boer’ Case Hits Constitutional Court: ‘We’ll Show You Flames’

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has reignited his feud with billionaire Elon Musk and former U.S. President Donald Trump following a significant legal win against AfriForum.

On Thursday, South Africa’s Constitutional Court dismissed AfriForum’s appeal against a ruling that the controversial chant “Kill the Boer” does not constitute hate speech. The Supreme Court of Appeal had previously upheld this stance, prompting AfriForum to challenge the decision—a move that ultimately failed.

Celebrating the victory, Malera took to X (formerly Twitter) to directly call out Musk and Trump, both of whom have previously criticized him.

“The EFF’s superior logic prevails again. Bring all your white supremacists together—we will still show you flames. Try me, boys. @ElonMusk @DonaldTrump,” he tweeted.

EFF spokesperson Sinawo Thambo accused AfriForum of attempting to suppress black resistance while promoting a false narrative of white persecution.

“This case was a frivolous and cynical effort to weaponize the legal system, distort history, and silence black resistance,” Thambo stated. “AfriForum continues pushing the myth of white victimhood in a country where black South Africans still suffer from land dispossession, economic exclusion, and systemic oppression caused by decades of white minority rule.”

Malema has long faced backlash—including from Trump and Musk—for singing “Kill the Boer,” an anti-apartheid-era song critics claim incites violence. Despite the controversy, the EFF leader remains defiant, vowing to continue singing what he describes as a “liberation anthem” rooted in the struggle against apartheid.

The latest legal ruling solidifies Malema’s stance, further fueling tensions between the EFF and its detractors, both locally and internationally.
