Ndlozi Consulted Mbeki and Motlanthe Before EFF Resignation, Says City Press

According to a report by City Press, Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, the former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP, sought counsel from former South African presidents Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe before resigning from the party. While the specifics of their discussions remain undisclosed, these consultations are believed to have provided Ndlozi with valuable insights as he navigated a pivotal moment in his political career.

Ndlozi’s resignation from the EFF, announced on February 10, 2025, marked the end of his more than decade-long association with the party. In his resignation statement, he expressed a desire to contribute to society beyond the confines of party politics, signaling a new direction in his professional journey.

Prior to his departure, Ndlozi faced internal challenges within the EFF, including a suspension linked to allegations of involvement in an infiltration strategy by the MK Party. He was also accused of failing to inform EFF leader Julius Malema about the departure of then-deputy president Floyd Shivambu. These controversies reportedly played a role in his decision to step away from active politics.

Since leaving the EFF, Ndlozi has transitioned into the media space, taking on a role as a show host at Power FM Talk Radio. His move into broadcasting reflects his commitment to engaging with the public in new and impactful ways, leveraging his sharp political insights and dynamic presence.

The consultations with Mbeki and Motlanthe underscore Ndlozi’s thoughtful approach to career transitions and his respect for the wisdom of seasoned leaders. Their guidance is said to have been instrumental in his decision to explore opportunities outside of party politics, where he can continue to influence public discourse and contribute to societal development.

As Ndlozi embarks on this new chapter, his journey serves as a reminder of the evolving nature of political careers and the importance of seeking mentorship during times of change. His shift from politics to media highlights the diverse ways in which leaders can continue to shape South Africa’s future.
