EFF Accuses ANC of Targeting Its Leaders Amid Growing Political Tensions

A member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has accused the African National Congress (ANC) of attempting to recruit prominent EFF leaders, describing the ruling party’s actions as a sign of desperation and a lack of confidence in its own leadership and policies.

“Firstly, the ANC wanted Julius Malema to rejoin them. Now they are after Mbuyiseni. If they believe so much in EFF leaders, why don’t they close shop and join the EFF?” the EFF member stated, expressing frustration over what they see as the ANC’s tactics to poach influential figures from the opposition.

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, the EFF’s former spokesperson and a key figure in the party, is reportedly the latest target of the ANC’s alleged recruitment efforts. While Ndlozi has not directly addressed the rumors, the comments from his party colleagues suggest growing concern about the ruling party’s approach.

Political analysts have speculated that the ANC’s actions are part of a broader strategy to refresh its image and reclaim public support as it faces declining voter confidence ahead of the 2026 general elections. However, these alleged overtures toward EFF leaders appear to have exacerbated tensions between the two parties.

The EFF, which has positioned itself as a radical alternative to the ANC, has consistently criticized the ruling party’s policies and leadership. Any attempts by the ANC to bring EFF leaders into its fold may be seen as a deliberate effort to weaken the opposition’s momentum and undermine its independence.

With the 2026 elections approaching, this dispute underscores the increasing intensity of political rivalry in South Africa. As both parties strive to secure influence, public clashes like this are likely to shape the narrative and sway voters in the coming years.
