In a year that has reshaped the trajectory of the UMkhonto Wesizwe Party (MWP), members and leaders gathered to reflect on the party’s accomplishments and challenges under the stewardship of President Jacob Zuma. Rooted in its revolutionary ethos, the MWP marked 2024 as a year of foundational growth, steadfast leadership, and a commitment to South Africa’s marginalized communities.

President Zuma, known for his resilience and unwavering vision, has continued to guide the MWP through complex political dynamics. His focus remains on fostering unity, driving economic transformation, and safeguarding South Africa’s national sovereignty.

“2024 was a year of laying the groundwork for sustainable progress,” Zuma stated during his address at the party’s annual conference. “We are resolute in our mission to uplift the disenfranchised and secure a future where all South Africans can thrive.”

A key highlight of the year was the party’s strong support for Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu, who faced political turbulence and public scrutiny. Despite external pressures and speculation, the MWP leadership and its members have stood firmly behind Shivambu, emphasizing the party’s internal solidarity.

“We are unwavering in our support for SG Floyd Shivambu,” declared party spokesperson Thando Dlamini. “The rumors of discord within our ranks are baseless. We cherish his leadership and remain united under the guidance of both Shivambu and President Zuma as we advance our mandate.”

Looking ahead to 2025, the MWP faces the dual challenge of solidifying its role in South Africa’s political landscape while addressing pressing socio-economic issues. Party insiders highlight plans for increased political engagement, strategic alliances, and a focus on delivering tangible improvements for South Africans.

As the MWP continues its journey, the year ahead promises to be pivotal in shaping the party’s legacy and its impact on the country’s future. With a united leadership and a clear vision, the MWP aims to navigate challenges while remaining steadfast in its revolutionary principles.
