Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) President Julius Malema delivered an emotional and reflective speech at the party’s third National People’s Assembly (NPA) on Saturday. Addressing a vibrant hall filled with red-clad delegates, Malema expressed deep gratitude to the EFF’s dedicated grassroots supporters, whom he credited for the party’s continued rise in South African politics.

“Without the perseverance and commitment of our ground forces, we wouldn’t be here today,” Malema declared, his words met with thunderous applause as the audience chanted the party’s slogans in unison.

While the tone of Malema’s speech was celebratory, it also carried a note of introspection. Reflecting on the challenges and triumphs of leading the EFF, he acknowledged the toll that leadership demands. A poignant moment arose when an observer on social media remarked on Malema’s changing appearance, noting, “The struggle is telling on Julius Malema; he looks older now.”

Addressing such sentiments head-on, Malema responded with resilience. “These wrinkles are the marks of leadership and sacrifice for the liberation of our people,” he said. “The journey is not easy, but it is worth every effort.”

The assembly served not only as a celebration of the EFF’s achievements—such as its growing influence in Parliament and local government—but also as an opportunity to set the party’s strategic vision for the years ahead.

As he concluded his address, Malema reminded the delegates of the EFF’s core mission: “The fight for economic freedom is far from over, but with your dedication, we will achieve it.” His words resonated deeply, galvanizing the assembly as the party reaffirmed its commitment to transforming South Africa’s economic and political landscape.
