Power Struggles Alleged as Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s Absence Sparks EFF Leadership Rift

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) find themselves embroiled in controversy as allegations of internal power struggles and strategic sidelining come to light. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, once a charismatic and influential figure within the party, was notably absent from the EFF’s recent National Anniversary Conference, fueling speculation about cracks in the party’s leadership.

Ndlozi, a former National Spokesperson admired for his intellectual contributions and strong appeal among the youth, appears to have taken a backseat in the EFF’s organizational hierarchy. Party insiders suggest that his critical views and independent-minded approach may have alienated him from key decision-makers, particularly those aligned with leader Julius Malema.

The absence of Ndlozi from the high-profile conference has raised questions about whether his diminishing role is part of a calculated effort to consolidate power at the top. Sources close to the party point to a recent restructuring as indicative of a broader strategy to neutralize dissenting voices, with some alleging an effort to sideline Ndlozi ahead of the critical 2024 national elections.

While Ndlozi has yet to publicly address the situation, speculation is mounting. Critics argue that his sidelining reflects a broader trend of intolerance for internal opposition within the EFF. Supporters of Ndlozi have expressed disappointment, with some questioning whether his political future lies outside the party if tensions persist.

For years, Ndlozi’s eloquence and contributions helped define the EFF’s radical narrative. His absence from key events, however, has amplified rumors of discontent within the ranks. Observers believe the reshuffling signals a push by leadership to tighten control over the party as it seeks to solidify its electoral strategy.

The EFF has downplayed the allegations of a leadership rift, but the speculation underscores the challenges of balancing the party’s radical image with internal unity. As South Africans watch these developments unfold, questions linger: is the EFF navigating a moment of transformation, or is it grappling with internal turmoil that could reshape its trajectory?

One certainty remains—dynamic tensions within the EFF continue to make it one of South Africa’s most unpredictable political entities.
