In a dramatic turn of events, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) conducted a surprise raid at the La Lucia residence of Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize, the prominent entrepreneur and reality TV star. The operation came mere days after the Durban High Court finalized her divorce from her ex-husband, Sbu Mpisane, following a protracted six-year legal battle.

R37 Million Tax Investigation

The raid is reportedly linked to allegations of R37 million in unpaid taxes. While authorities have not officially confirmed the details, SARS had previously announced in August that progress was being made in its investigation into MaMkhize’s financial dealings.

The timing of the raid has sparked public speculation, coinciding with the dissolution of MaMkhize and Mpisane’s marriage. The couple’s legal separation, finalized on November 18, ended a contentious chapter that began in October 2018 when MaMkhize filed for divorce.

Luxury Property and Divorce Settlement

During their six-year separation, the couple continued to live in their lavish La Lucia mansion, albeit in separate wings—MaMkhize in the northern section and Mpisane in the southern. Now that the divorce has been finalized, questions remain about the division of their multimillion-rand estate.

Reports indicate that Mpisane sought a 50% share of their assets as part of the settlement, though the court’s decision on this matter remains undisclosed due to legal restrictions.

MaMkhize and Mpisane: Moving Forward

Mpisane, speaking to Daily Sun, acknowledged the divorce but declined to elaborate, citing the Divorce Act of 1979, which prohibits the disclosure of details from divorce proceedings.

“After six years of wrestling, the Durban High Court finally dissolved the marriage. The court prohibits the publication of information that comes to light during divorce proceedings. I will not be divulging what the judge decided should happen after the divorce decree was granted,” he stated.

Meanwhile, MaMkhize, who had already reverted to her maiden name during the proceedings, has yet to publicly comment on the raid or the allegations of tax evasion.

What’s Next for MaMkhize?

The recent events add another layer of complexity to MaMkhize’s high-profile life, marked by her business ventures, reality TV stardom, and ongoing legal challenges. As the SARS investigation unfolds, public interest in her financial and personal affairs remains high.

Whether these developments will impact her empire or public persona remains to be seen, but MaMkhize continues to be a focal point in South Africa’s celebrity and business landscape.
