EFF Denounces Fake News Amid Leadership Turmoil

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have strongly condemned the spread of “ongoing uncertainties” within the party, attributing the confusion to a fake statement circulating on social media.

Fake Statement Targets Malema

A purported statement, allegedly from the EFF, criticized the actions of party leader Julius Malema. The fake document expressed “deep disappointment and disillusionment” with Malema’s leadership, accusing him of making “uninformed decisions driven by fear and emotion,” which it claimed had caused the departure of key party leaders and created an atmosphere of instability.

The statement, which the EFF has discredited, also urged supporters to remain calm during what it described as a “difficult period.”

EFF Responds

The party has dismissed the statement as fraudulent, emphasizing that all official communication is issued exclusively through verified platforms. “The EFF condemns the spread of fake news being circulated in our name. We urge the public to remain vigilant and reject misinformation,” the party said.

Leadership Challenges

The controversy comes amid reports of significant internal upheaval. Several high-profile leaders, including Floyd Shivambu, Mzwanele Manyi, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, and Dali Mpofu, have reportedly left the EFF to join former President Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party.

Additionally, EFF founding member and MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is rumored to have been barred from attending the party’s upcoming national elective conference. Reports suggest the deputy president position has already been predetermined ahead of the gathering.

National People’s Assembly

The EFF’s much-anticipated National People’s Assembly is scheduled to take place from December 13 to 15 at Nasrec in Johannesburg. The conference is expected to address key leadership decisions and chart the party’s course forward amidst these challenges.
