  • South African stars joined the global Halloween celebrations, posting creative costumes on social media.
  •  Singer Tyla, now in the US, embodied Halle Berry’s Flintstones character with a Stone Age-inspired look, complete with a bold black wig and makeup.
  •  Somizi Mhlongo and Pearl Thusi won praise for dressing as local rappers Shebeshxt and Emtee, with Somizi calling it a memorable first (and possibly last) Halloween experience.

South African celebrities were in the Halloween spirit this year, with many of them showing off their unique costumes on social media. Singer Tyla, currently based in the United States, brought nostalgia with her Bedrock-inspired costume, channeling Halle Berry’s character from *The Flintstones* movie. Tyla’s Stone Age glam included a bold black wig, striking makeup, and a confident pose, making waves among her fans.

Meanwhile, Somizi Mhlongo and Pearl Thusi took a local spin on Halloween by dressing as South African rappers. Somizi chose to portray the often-controversial rapper Shebeshxt, while Pearl took on the persona of Emtee. Both were hailed among the best-dressed for their accurate and creative representations.

Reflecting on his experience, Somizi shared, “This was my first and probably my last Halloween participation because how do I top that? I had so much fun doing this. Thanks for all the lovely comments. It’s crazy how when I looked at the pics during the shoot I’d scream out in disbelief of how alike we look. Crazier that we’ve never met Shebeshxt.”
