Lerato Makgatho, the self-proclaimed “slay queen” who previously claimed to have been involved in a romantic relationship with the late Tito Mboweni, has shared her thoughts following his death. Makgatho, who is an influencer and podcaster, once described her past relationship with the former Finance Minister, revealing that they dated a decade ago but ended things because “he was not a freak in bed.”

Tito Mboweni, who passed away after a short illness, leaves behind three children. His death, confirmed by his brother Alto, occurred in a Johannesburg hospital on Saturday night, surrounded by loved ones. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed, and the family is expected to announce funeral details soon.

Makgatho’s comments about her relationship with Mboweni first surfaced in 2019 when she claimed to have been in a “love triangle” with Mboweni and Minister of Mineral Resources Gwede Mantashe. She criticized Mboweni for his lack of financial and sexual satisfaction, stating that Mantashe provided more financially and was more assertive in bed.

Mboweni, known for his distinctive fashion sense and love of cooking, last tweeted on 1 October. In recent months, he had been traveling to countries like Ghana, Rwanda, and Malaysia. His passing has left many reflecting on his legacy, both in public service and personal life.

However, in a follow-up, Lerato backtracked, praising Tito’s bedroom skills.

Following his death, Lerato shared in a Facebook post: “RIP Tito Mboweni. May we  find strength during these difficult times.”
