The Senzo Meyiwa trial is expected to resume on Monday morning at the High Court in Pretoria. Five men are on trial for the murder of the Bafana Bafana captain who was shot and killed in 2014.

The murder occurred at his former girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus, on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Previously, Vodacom’s Forensic Liaison Supervisor Pinky Vythilingam spent some time on the witness stand unpacking cellphone data.

Meyiwa murder trial I Court hears how Mncube’s phone pinged at Vosloorus cellphone tower.

Vythilingam put the spotlight on a phone associated with accused number three, Mthobisi Mncube.

While Mncube denied being in Vosloorus on the day of the murder, Vythilingam said cellphone tower records place him in Vosloorus between 1pm and 3pm on October 26 October 2014.

Sibanda: What would your comment be regarding the presence of this device between these times where it was recording the Vosloorus tower.

Vythilingam: I can conclude by saying that this handset ending 8169 was in the vicinity of Vosloorus on 26 October during those times.
