The Motshana family has announced the funeral arrangements for Mokgadi Mimilee Motshana, whose tragic story has left the community in mourning. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15, at Kanana Town, Ga-Sekororo, near the Moshate Community Hall, Ward 14, at 06h30.

Mokgadi Mimilee Motshana, affectionately known as Mimi, was reported missing on March 20, 2024. Her disappearance sparked an intense search that ended in heartbreak when her decomposed body was found hanging from a tree in the Phalaborwa area on April 1, 2024. Forensic pathologists conducted an autopsy and DNA testing to confirm her identity and determine the cause of death.

During this time of sorrow, the Motshana family has expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received. In a heartfelt statement, they said:

“To friends, family, neighbors, and the Phalaborwa community, the Motshana family thanks you for the support and comfort given since March 20, 2024, when our sister disappeared, until her discovery on April 1, 2024. Your presence has helped us through life’s most challenging situation, and we appreciate all of you.”

The immense support from the community has been a crucial source of strength for the Motshana family. They acknowledge and thank everyone involved in the search and those who offered comfort and assistance during their time of need.

As they prepare to say goodbye to Mimi, the family has requested privacy and respect during their mourning period. The funeral service will provide an opportunity for the community to come together and pay tribute to a beloved member whose life was tragically cut short.

Mimi’s funeral marks the end of a harrowing chapter for her family and the community. The courage and support shown by friends, family, and neighbors have been invaluable, and the family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone who played a part. The service on June 15, 2024, will be a solemn occasion to honor Mimi’s memory and seek closure after a period of profound loss and uncertainty.

In the quiet of Kanana Town, the community will gather to remember Mimi’s spirit, mourn her untimely death, and support the Motshana family as they navigate this deeply painful time. The love and strength shared in this small town will be a testament to Mimi’s impact on those around her and the collective resilience in the face of tragedy.
