With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Sergeant Juliet Motshwene, a dedicated police officer from Kgapamadi, Limpopo. The news of her tragic death sends shockwaves through the community, leaving many grappling with grief and disbelief.

Sergeant Motshwene’s life was tragically cut short when she was found murdered on Sunday, 4th February. The circumstances surrounding her death are deeply troubling, compounded by the fact that she was reported missing just days before her body was discovered. The discovery of her decomposing remains outside her home village has sent shock and sorrow rippling through her community and beyond.

As the investigation unfolds, questions loom large, and the search for answers intensifies. Who could perpetrate such a heinous act against a dedicated servant of the law? Why was she targeted? These are questions that demand answers, and the community rightfully seeks justice for Juliet.

In the wake of this senseless tragedy, the call to action against gender-based violence grows louder. Juliet’s untimely death serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive threat that violence poses, particularly to women in our society. Her memory must not be in vain; it should serve as a rallying cry to redouble our efforts in combating all forms of violence against women.

As we reflect on Juliet’s life and legacy, let us honour her memory by standing united against gender-based violence. Let us pledge to keep her spirit alive by advocating for a world where safety, respect, and equality are not just ideals but realities for all.

Rest in power, Juliet. Your courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to serving your community will never be forgotten. May your soul find peace, and may justice prevail.
