DJ Sbu speaks out after Zahara’s passing, making it clear that he does not owe her money

The eagerness to hear DJ Sbu’s thoughts on the tragic loss of Zahara the gifted was palpable. In an interview with Newzroom Afrika, he finally got a chance to address this topic.

Businessman and podcaster DJ Sbu remarked on Zahara’s artistic path during the interview. He went into detail about how her career began and the grand ambitions TS Records had for her.

DJ Sbu divulged information about Zahara that was previously unknown; he might have boasted about this during their misunderstanding, but he refrained.

During his interview, he revealed that the record company had once tried to get Zahara a deal in the US and Europe. Their dedication to making her a worldwide star was on full display, even though this never came to fruition.

The tight relationship that DJ Sbu had with Zahara was highlighted when he spoke about how she was a delight to be around, someone who was like a sister to him. He insisted that helping Zahara succeed and being there for her in any way he could was his only goal.

The late singer’s accusations against TS Records naturally prompted questions regarding him. It was made clear by the businessman that Zahara’s royalties were deposited straight into her account, and he also detailed the operational method.

Respecting Zahara’s family’s wishes, he did not reveal too many details, but he did say that she was the rightful owner of her publication rights. Curiously, rather than going via TS Records, Universal song—the distributor of TS Records’ song catalogue—paid Zahara directly.

This plan had been in place from the start. Although DJ Sbu admitted he hadn’t planned to bring up business, he believed it was important for everyone to understand the issue.

Additionally, he admitted that he was aware of the comments made against him after Zahara’s death, since he had accessed X and seen some of them. But he knew that when people are sad or angry, they look for someone to blame.
