The former Kaizer Chiefs centre forward has revealed that he earned a modest three digit salary when he signed his first professional contract at Cape Town Spurs at aged 16.

What’s the story?

On Tuesday evening, former Kaizer Chiefs centre forward Shaun Permall who now works as a law enforcement officer for the City of Cape Town revealed during his latest interview on KickOff what his salary was when he signed his first professional contract at Cape Town Spurs while doing Grade 11.

“R500. That was in the PSL by the way. Those days it was a lot. A burger at Spur was R16. Those days it wasn’t about the money it was about playing football”.

In addition, the former Kaizer Chiefs centre forward also revealed what he bought with his first paycheck.

“I wasn’t into clothing; I was always in the club’s stuff. I only woke up about fashion when I went to Holland”.
