Former Muvhango actress and socialite, Tebogo Thobejane has survived an apparent ‘hit’.

She was on her way from Saints Champagne Lounge in Sandton with a friend and their driver when three men pulled up and shot at their car on Tuesday, the 17th of October 2023.

Earlier this year, Thobejane had indicated that she had relocated amid death threats; she said at the time ‘ I think my time in this country is done. My son is good where he is, far away from the toxicity. I am happy that I have the opportunity to live in other countries.”  Tebogo did not reveal her whereabouts but did say she had considered Europe. She had also said she left because the clubbing scene had become hostile and the “beef and hate towards her was unbearable,”.

On the Tuesday incident, Tebogo narrated “We had a great evening, I was with my friend in the car and we were driving home around 11pm when three men pulled up in what looked like a florist vehicle and there was a white Audi following us,” she says. “They shot at us and the bullet scrapped me on my back, it missed and hit my friend who is currently in hospital.”

Tebogo believes it was a hit as “It did not look like it was a robbery or an attempted hijacking. I have my suspicions.” She also says she is not okay and is traumatised. “We are blessed to be alive, but my friend is in hospital and I am trying to recover from the trauma. I knew some people didn’t like me but I did not expect someone to shoot me or to want to kill me. Is it the money? Is it the club? This has become very unsafe. I am a mother, who will take care of my son if anything were to happen to me?”

We wish Tebogo and her friend the very best in their recovery.
