Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi has reportedly been admitted to the ICU section of a KwaZulu Natal hospital.
The ICU is the Intensive Care Unit and patients are closely monitored.
Buthelezi has been in hospital since his admission last week and it seems as though his condition has worsened.
Media reports indicate that he was taken to ICU on Tuesday evening and there were no further details given about his condition.
A leading online publication has confirmed that Buthelezi has lost the ability to speak and his condition is dire.
Buthelezi founded the IPF and he had been it’s leader until he stepped down last year. But he remains the face of the party.
Many political parties wished him good health after it emerged that he had been hospitalized.
The 95-year-old prince was initially hospitalised for backpain Monday, 24 July for treatment and recovery.
The Buthelezi family has not been vocal about his hospital admission and they have preferred to remain quiet.
This is a developing story, more to follow as updates become available.
Nothing much could also be obtained from his spokesperson, Liezl van der Merwe.
When he was initially admitted, she told the media that he had gone for routine tests. But this latest development has proved otherwise.
